When
we say Real-time.. .ReaI-quick', we mean it. Everything about M4000
is easy...simple set up procedures and online help, together with
Windows 95® operating system, make the unit particularly user-friendly
with very short learning timescales. However, the icon-based software
is an extremely powerful data acquisition and analysis engine that
can perform complex real-time analysis and tailor the display to
suit most needs and users.
Real time analysis of data.
With the use of the optional time and frequency
domain analysis packages, many analyses can be performed in 'real-time'
i.e. on the data being gathered. An example would be an engineer
adjusting the resonant frequency of a device whilst monitoring a
real-time FFT.
SnapMaster software has the power for a wide variety of applications.
By selecting from a range of icons on screen and choice of appropriate
parameters from drop-down menus, it is easy to create instruments
to emulate chart recorders, x-y plotters, oscilloscopes, temperature
gauges, and many more designed to meet specific needs. Any instrument
can be saved as a file for retrieval at any time.

The heart of the M4000 is our highly acclaimed
Series of M1000 signal conditioning modules. These mini-modules
allow users to condition any analogue source; sensors requiring
excitation are powered direct from the system.
The
wide choice of plug-in modules gives operation with strain gauge
inputs (1/4, 1/2 & full bridge), thermocouples, PRT's, LVDTs,
Rotary/Linear pots, RVDT's, magnetic pickups. Thus pressure, speed,
displacement, acceleration, load, flow, vibration, synchro and resolver,
together with voltage and current, etc. can be monitored using the
appropriate sensors. Special modules can also be designed to suit
specific input requirements. To add another measurement parameter
to the system is as easy as plugging in a signal conditioning module
in the front, connecting the sensor to the rear, and start collecting
data.
The system is normally configured for 16 channels of analog signal
conditioning, but can be readily expanded internally with a further
32 channel mix of high level, digital, thermocouple or counter/timer
inputs.
Standard sampling of data within M4000 is carried
out at 160 kHz. max.
Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) can be performed in Snapmaster, either
in real time or post acquisition. An example would be transferring
data to an existing analysis program configured in a Lotus or Excel
spreadsheet. Interfacing to third party software, such as nCode
or Safe, is readily achievable. Windows-based and bespoke software
may be installed on M4000 either running independently or in conjunction
with Snapmaster.

The
SnapMaster software
incorporates a Sensor Database which automatically converts your
data into engineering units (rpm. psi, degrees etc.). Calibration
history is tracked to ensure that the scaling data is accurate,
up-to-date, and traceable for all sensors.
The waveform analyser provides over 50 powerful time domain analysis
functions, decision making, event detection and digital filtering
options. The frequency analyser provides frequency domain analysis
including Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT), active band analysis, and
over 20 frequency domain
analysis functions.
With the frequency analyser, you never
have to write a formula. By using the 'point and click' Equation
Builder, you can quickly create new calculations and view them in
an easy-to-use table. These facilities provide the required answers
in the fastest possible time.
Results can be displayed with industry leading graphics simply by
choosing from a variety of display types with advanced features
such as stripchart emulation, multiple y-axes, data cursors and
text markers to notate important data points.
